Re: [RC] sleeping - Susan GarlinghouseAny tricks to getting some sleep the night before a ride for someone who cannot take any prescription sleeping pills (narcotics allergy)? I just get too amped up to sleep If it doesn't come under the heading of narcotics for you, you might try a Dramamine or Benadryl. The Dramamine makes me sleepy enough to drop off without making me groggy in the morning...the Benadryl puts me to sleep, but I have a harder time waking up in the morning. Also, I am the Queen of not being able to turn off the processor at night, so it helps me to get into the habit of focusing your mind on some nice visual scenario that keeps you from thinking about other stuff. My own scenario is focusing on riding Dakota across a sunny springtime meadow at a relaxed walk. Nothing really happening, just focus on the mountains in the distance, the birdsong, the glints from the stream, the feel of sun on your shoulders.....you get the idea. Turns off that cortical processor and off you go...zzzzzzzzzzzzzz. :-))) Good luck!
