Re: [RC] Older horses "growing" - Mike & Kathy KellyThere was a little blurb in Equus several months ago stating that the same horse could be 1 hand taller when fit than when unfit. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jena Williams" <equus_blue@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, April 27, 2003 12:07 AM Subject: [RC] Older horses "growing" I read somewhere that a horse's torso is "suspended", and not rigidly attached. Therefore exercise and strengthening of the suspension muscles can increase their height as measured at the withers. I don't remember where I read it though. I subscribe to a number of magazines and read anything horsey in sight. Maybe that would explain why an out of shape 7 year old seemed to grow after a year of work.
