Re: [RC] Swollen fetock/Infected cut - Lysane CreeMy filly is outside most of the day and so always has muddy legs. I can't believe I didn't notice before considering that I brush her every day, but I found a small cut on the inside of her fetlock that really, really only looked like a stubborn patch of mud. Since my filly is not limping on the leg (yet) and she is only sore with certain movements, I really think that she just has an infected cut and not anything sprained or pulled. The vet is only coming out on Monday and so I am wondering what I can do in the mean time? I cleaned the cut yesterday with alcohol, but it seems to be scabbed up already. And its the kind of cut that seems to be at the surface - fur/skin scraped off - doesn't look very deep. And I don't see any pus or anything. She also has a bump on the front of her fetlock which I am pretty sure has gotten a little bigger. I felt around in her fur (still has some longer winter fur) and found a scab there also. But you don't see it just by looking - maybe a puncture wound of some sort?? So what ever infection there is, it is not on the surface. There is only a tiny bit of heat. Would a poultice be good? I have Uptite poultice.
