Re: [RC] The whacko patrol - Linda Klingerman

About 10 years ago we lived in Ohio and my son worked for a family owned restaurant called "Menches Brothers".  The story was that this families ancestors (two brothers) had invented the hamburger in Hamburg NY.  They used to sell sausage patties at fairs and one evening ran out of sausage for tomorrows sales and switched to ground beef.   Supposedly the brothers had also invented the waffle ice cream cone and cracker jacks.

True??? I don't know, but good burgers.
Linda

>>>I just saw this on the news and it is absolutely true.

We have widespread unemployment [at least here in Sillicon Valley], we have war in Irag and other problems and now we have a town a town in upstate New York named Hamburg which was incorporated somewhere around 1812 or so.

PETA has offered them $15,000 to change their name to
Veggieburg because the name Hamburg congers up images of dead ground up cows.

I was in hysterics.  These people are really scary......mb
