Re: [RC] WNV and denials - Maggie MieskeSame thing with feed reps...their job IS after all to sell you THEIR feed and not very many actually have any kind of degree. I know of ONE personally. The rest generally attend seminars, etc. to learn about the various feeds that their company manufactures. I was treated VERY rudely by Fort Dodge reps last year when I dared to ask questions that even HINTED that a horse might acquire natural immunity if they contracted WNV...I was trying to glean information. I wanted to know why SO MANY shots and then yearly shots. I wanted to know about research and what their credentials and experience was. At that point, I had not made a decision one way or another about vaccinating or not vaccinating. They blew any credibility with me right there. They turned an opportunity to educate into an opportunity to suggest that I was an irresponsible horse owner if I chose NOT to vaccinate. I refuse to buy ANY Fort Dodge vaccines... plenty of other drug companies out there who will be happy to answer my questions without being rude and arrogant.
