While I would much prefer not to have a horse that needed fluids post ride I know it can happen even with careful riding. I have heard several people discuss the option of IV versus tubing, which acted quicker, was easier, etc. What has been the experience of other riders and vets with both?? I'd prefer to IV, personally. It is often less stressful to the horse. Both have potential risks. And if there is any chance that you are on the beginnings of an anterior enteritis, the fluids in the gut may not be absorbed. (If not, they are likely absorbed fairly quickly, but I'd still prefer the IV.)
