Re: [RC] WNV - Mary SutliffWe vaccinated our five horses for WNV last fall. After the second shot one of the horses had what I consider a serious reaction. On the day following the shot he had a large abcess on his neck. This was treated with cold and hot packs and bute for the pain. While the abcess went down it internalized and this horses neck was very stilff for over two months. He was not able to be ridden for almost three months. During that time the horse was very uncomfortable and was seen and treated by our vet many times. Needless to say this horse did not get the WNV last week when the others got theirs. Anyone else have an experince like this and if so what did you decide to do about future WNV vaccination? We're in Western Washington where so far the risk is low. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
