In general terms these championship rides are races. To finish is not to win -to win is to win. I would expect that places more emphasis on the vets to be less willing to allow a horse that might be marginal back out on the trail. After all if the horse has to slow down because of it's condition (lameness or metabolic), it has no chance of winning so what's the point of taking any risk?

Not that any of this is positive or negative, these are championship races not rides where riders are interested in getting miles, seeing scenery, etc.

Are Vet controls any tougher over there than here?   In other words lower pulse requirements?   Less allowance for very minor "off" gait?   Gut sounds? Dehydration?
