[RC] Feed Questions - Benedikte Whitman

Hi,

There was a post on here a week or two ago that I skimmed and cannot find
now. It seemed to me that the person was saying that alfalfa reduces
acidity in the stomach and so they feed it before a ride. I wanted to
find out if this is correct, and if so, what quantity does it need to be
fed in to work effectively. I only feed a half pound of alfalfa pellets
to correct the Ca:P ratio for my rice bran but was wondering if I should
feed some before a ride.

Is there a cheaper alternative to aloe juice to help with ulcers or a
pre-ulcer condition. It becomes kind of pricey when you give 1.5 cups per
day.

Has anyone tried Vita Royal's feeds
(http://www.vitaroyal.com/WhysNutritional.html)
A friend has had good results with it for a foundered horse where nothing
else was working and she said I should try their tie-up feed since I have
that problem with my horse. Was just looking for any other
recommendations either for or against.
Benedikte
