[RC] Bone Spavin - Celeste MurrayHi Val I don't know much about bone spavin but my stallion was diagnosed with bog spavin and ringbone in his one hind leg as a two year old, he is now 6 and saterday placed 2nd in his first 30km endurance ride at a reasonable pace. Sunday he was frisking around his paddock at home with no problems whatsoever. Celeste and Azam ------------------------------------------------------------ From: Val Nicoson <sweetmare55@xxxxxxxxx> Subject: [RC] Light Riding Question My mare may possibly have bone spavin which hopefully will be confirmed yes/no shortly after tax season. Meanwhile am told that light riding should be pursued. Can anyone provide ideas and parameters regarding what exactly constitutes "light" riding? Do understand this does not include any LD/endurance riding...but how about conditioning...i.e. what should the mileage limitation be for this condition? Mostly we would do this at a walk with a small amount of trotting. Would 5 miles be OK? What about 10? Personally am thinking 5 would be OK but perhaps 10 may be too much?
