"I have a Kuvaz
(descendant of the Great Pyrenees) which is a livestock guard dog.
Will let you know when someone or something gets near. Great with kids
but guarded with strangers and respects my horses. Anatolion Shepherds
are also good."
The only
problem with a livestock guard dog is that they are bred to bark to let
coyotes etc; that they are there and are on the job and they are bred to chase
coyotes, fox, etc so they don't make you to popular if you have close neighbors
. I raise sheep so own a Great Pyrnees and two Akbash guards .I love them
to death but they are not for a small place .
