Our neighborhood was burglarized about a year ago. 
They got every house around ours - with the
exception
of ours.
I had a BIG 130lb Bloodhound - lots of slobber.  I
think the robbers had been to scope out the
neighborhood. There were no (bare) feet prints in
the
driveway, so we think they knew we had a big dog.  I
also had A Redbone Coonhound in the yard too.  Both
bark, but don't think they would have bitten anyone.

They are/were actually big babies.
The robbers also turned out one of the neighbor's
horses - before or after breaking into cars and
stealing money, CDs, and stereo equipment.  

The robbers went barefoot - (we think) so the police
could not identify them by their shoes.  They were
eventually caught.
