RE: [RC] RC Chronic Thrush - do booties work? - Hopkins, Lorretta J.one farrier told me it is caused by them standing in urine hole, another said no, it's the manure. for her either one could be it because she's a 'dirty' horse in that she pulverizes her manure and does walk a lot through her pee spot. ************* I've seen slip-on type booties with velcro bands to hold them in place Dover sale catalog), and was wondering if something like this would help those equines that are more prone to developing thrush than others. We keep the stalls very clean, and have good turn-out. We still find that there is always one horse who will develop thrush, no matter what we do to prevent it. Would some type of bootie, worn in the stall, help those who keep standing in their manure and urine? Has anyone tried something like these booties? --Lorretta =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
