[RC] AERC Board of Directors Meetings: Chattanooga Motions and Agenda - Bob Morris

In reading through the motions I see one about awards:

2. Julie and Bob Suhr Husband & Wife Award: Current policy
is to discard all
points earned towards the award if the combined mileage does
not meet the
percentage specification, therefore: "Motion to change
current policy to:
Only points that are earned within the mileage criteria will
apply towards
this award. "

The current description reads:

Husband/Wife Team Award: Honoring the top 10 Husband/Wife
teams with the most points
accumulated on any number of horses. Should a spouse have
less mileage, his/her total
must be at least equal to half the mileage total completed
by partner. 10 plaques awarded

How will the new description read?

What is meant by <<<Only points that are earned within the
mileage criteria will apply towards
this award.>>>?

I question because I see no description of mileage criteria.
This award is based on POINTS.

I believe that this change could be worded better so members
would be aware of the intent.

Also given a hypothetical;

Rider A with 1500 miles and Rider B with 500 miles. Award
will be made on total of 1500 miles.
1000 from rider A and 500 from rider B. Of these 1500 miles,
1000 are those ridden by A and B together.
Now, since the award is on points, are the next 500 miles
of rider A's to be of the highest finishes of the
remaining 1000 or are they to be the lowest of the finishes?
It could make a very great difference!

Best let this motion die as the change is just because of a
single perceived inequity in 2002.
