Re: [RC] Doc's story:What if it was your horse? Long but a must read! - sharp pennyThere are alot of these non profit equine rescue groups all over the US (Tx. has a wonderful one)...all needing the help you are asking for. I hate to sound callous, but you can't save them all. I have a problem with these groups "saving"(read sinking money into) the non ridable ones when there are so many out there that can be ridden. So often these rescuers think with their heart and not their head and then panic when they can't place the pasture sound horses and the bills are mounting. The first thing I check on before donating to a non profit group is, are they making sound financial decisions and optimizing their limited funds by using them where they can get a better chance of a fiscal return.
