No they don't Howard ! That isn't what this sport is all about , thats what

You know Drin, I just love it when experts such as yourself tell me what this sport is all about. I, obviously, have not been listening intently as I should to ya'll.
Geeez, give me a break here. If you think there's only one road/trail to take down that endurance highway of life, maybe, one of us isn't very open to what endurance is all about. For me, it's similar to what life is all about; always changing, always evolving. I don't think most riders intend on getting stuck in the sand and doing things one way, without considering other options.
What I meant by a flash in the pan is that there really might be a horse who is the best horse in that particular year, who might be worthy of entering Nationals, but doesn't have the required 500 miles horse/rider that is now mandatory. Isn't Nationals about the best team for that year? Do we have to look at lifetime achievements for the 2002 Nationals? Gee, why wouldn't the horse/rider receive some kind of lifetime award if that's what we're crediting them with.
I thought Nationals were run once each year. I thought it was an annual event. So, with that in mind, don't you think we should let the best in that particular year actually win, or have the chance to do so? There is a difference between a lifetime achievement and an annual one. Isn't there?
cya,
Howard (still trying to figure out what the sport is all about and I really have no clue as to what life is about; yet)
