The way LD is now never complicated things for me and
I've been managing rides since 1989. Not that I'm
smart or anything...just lucky I guess.
Like Nancy, I believe we'd be going backwards instead
of forwards if we gave LD distance a physical finish
line AGAIN. And, if we give LD horses 60 minutes to
recover from a 25 miles ride, they'd be DEAD! OK...a
little meladramitic but not too far off. Perhaps I
misunderstood you; keep the end recovery to 30 minutes
for the LD. I'd like to think we've learned from our
mistakes...those who don't know endurance's history
are doomed to repeat it!

I understand your frustration. I don't think letting
them kill themselves is in the best interest of this sport.
