Don't give up amanda. But be prepared to travel even to volunteer, if you
really want to do it.
I travel 18 to 20 hours to volunteer at the OLD 'D' or the Fort Valley
rides. 13 hours to Vermont for the 100 or the Pan Am. 10 Hours to the Pine
tree in Maine, 30 hours straight drive to the Biltmore. similar to the
Caroline 100. I've been to them all, most 4 or 5 times. Its great fun, but
it does take some commitmant and lack of intelligence to keep at it.
Woprking a ride has many advantages over crewing. First you get yelled at
by many different people instead of one person over and over. Secondly,
even if you make one upset person happy, another rider will come along. :-(
Crewing on the other hand, if it is going really badly for you, you can
always go to denny's for breakfast and see if they appreciate you more if
you show back up. :-)
Get out to a clinc, volunteer at a ride, crew for some lucky rider, get on
haorse and do a ride.
Its all part of the fun.
Happy Trails to all, andd to all a Merry Xmas.
