Julie Roberts has a small ranch just
north of Taos and she has several horses there. I used to work for the local
horse vet, and one of the first horses I took care of at the clinic was one of
hers. She isn't at the place very often, but has caretakers who take care of the
horses. From time to time, one of the horses would end up at the
clinic.
When I heard she was getting married
this past summer, and the wedding took place at midnight, I figured it was
possibly so that she wouldn't hop on one of her horses and take off to escape
the wedding, like in the movie : ) I don't know how often she rides her
horses here, but do know that they are well cared for.
Lynn Anderson lives here in Taos, too.
She used to show Quarter horses and was very successful at the national level.
She still has horses and a while back she made headlines when she rode her horse
into the lobby of the Fechin Inn, at a local fund raiser.
Another well known Taos resident is
Donald Rumsfeld. One of his horses was a regular patient at the vet hospital,
too.
And we have numerous artists here that
have horses, too.
And then there's people like me - not
rich or famous - but probably luckier in that we have more time to spend riding
our horses and enjoying the fantastic trails around here. I think I'll take that
over fame and fortune any day!

This is for you men folk out there! Just saw the Runaway Bride
the other night and saw Julia Roberts riding off in a wedding dress! I
understand she has a ranch in New Mexico and has horses? Anyone from
there know? Anyway, guys-there's one for you!!
