[RC] Leg confirmation in High Mileage horses - Rides 2 Far

Last summer we had Charbiel here. He was the reigning Pan Am silver
medalist, had been to the WEC, top AERC 100 mile horse, and a boat load
of other awards. I was surprised that he toed in. Didn't understand why
such a top rider would choose a horse that toed in to begin with for
training. Otis Schmitt (endurance vet extraordinaire) saw what I was
thinking and said, "You see how he stands?" and I said, "Yeah". Then he
said, "Almost all the really good ones end up like that, even if they
didn't start that way". Anybody else noticed that? Now I feel bad
because I don't have Kaboot toeing in yet. >g< By the way, Charbiel had a
gorgeous back, neck and everything else! Legs were nice, just slight toe
    in.

I did have a horse that I put 500 miles on, then a junior put on another
1000 miles with never a vet bill or a lost time lameness (only one pull).
EVERYTHING was wrong with his legs. Rope walk, wing, rear end out to
the side like a coon dog, rear end trailing along behind, pulling himself
down the trail with his forehand, his rear feet twisted when they hit the
ground so bad you'd have thought he'd have unscrewed his shoes. I
figured he had so many negatives they just all cancelled each other out
and made a positive. I wouldn't have dared to have disrupted the delicate
    balance by fixing anything.
