A few years ago, I took PVC pipe, sawed it down the middle and then smoothed
the cut edges with sandpaper, before applying strips of duct tape to the
sanded edges. I keep them wrapped up in plastic in the barn in two sets, one
set goes if I haul anywhere. I didn't think to mention it before, because I
just consider it part of the first-aid kits. I also carry one short piece
w/me in the cantlebag kit when I'm riding.
