and met Patrick Swazye

        Back at the time the TV mini-series North/South came out (I don't
remember it's name---as I didn't watch TV at the time) I didn't have a clue
as to who Patrick Swazye was, but I recall going to the Region IX show in
Dallas and noticed a guy helping Tom McNair setting up the trail horse
class, and thought----"That guy looks kind of like Kurt Russell."   I walked
by them in the hall and could have reached out and touched either one.  Then
I noticed him riding in the Western Pleasure class - I was right on the rail
and made eye contact with him - still not knowing who he was.   He was
wearing slick black chaps with white diamonds--pretty fancy.    As the class
went on I noticed flash bulbs going off all over the place--and didn't know
why.   Actually---in my ignorance, when he was named as one of the ribbon
winners---everybody was clapping and taking photos---I still didn't know who
he was.   But I learned (grin).
