Linda,
I don't have any of
the AMHA registries - books or CDs. The website has allot of the lineage
already there. Adding a horse, with a few generations back, gives a total
picture. Heck, it's free. I found it a lot of fun to be able to see just
how far back I could go on my boys. I found that Sonny has a bit of Thorobred
and Saddlebred blood.
Just an interesting, fun
site - no more, no less.
Jeanne
Oh, I see. Sorry, I
misunderstood.
For anybody who is interested in Morgan bloodlines,
the CD
as an absolute must. Yeah, the first one is
expensive (cheaper
if you join AMHA), but thereafter you get the updates fairly cheaply.
Here's WCM Beaumark Morgan (make your screen WIDE,
so it doesn't wrap):
Sire:
Waseeka Thunderbolt
Sire: Waseeka's Here Tiz
Sire: Waseeka's Nocturne
Sire: Starfire (Senator Graham (Senator Knox x Fanita) x Wanda (Highview King
(inbred Jubilee King) x TeePee)))
Dam:
Upwey Benn Quietude (Upwey King Benn (Upwey King Peavine (ASB) x Audrey) x
Quietude (Troubador of Willomoor x Ruth)))
Dam:
Waseeka's Thisizit
Sire: Parade (Cornwallis (Sealeact x Cornwall Lass) x Mansphyllis (Mansfield X
Paragraph (by Jubilee King)))
Dam: Upwey Benn Quietude (see above)
Dam: Waseeka's Theme
Song
Sire:
Waseeka's Nocturne
Sire:
Starfire (see above)
Dam: Upwey Benn Quietude (see above)
Dam: Mannequin
Sire: Mansfield (Bennington (General Gates x Mrs. Culvers) x Artemesia (Ethan
Allen III x Lady Laura))
Dam: Flashlight (Delmont (Ulysses x ASB dam) x Walla Walla (Mansfield x Dew Drop
(by Gen't Gates)))
Dam:
WCM Betsy Morgan
Sire: UVM
Flash
Sire: Upwey Ben Don (See Upwey Benn Quietude above)
Dam: Norma
Sire: Canfield (see Mansfield above)
Dam: Romance (Bennington (see Mansfield above) x Narissa (Troubador of Willomoor
x Ellen))
Dam: Anneigh's
Ballerina
Sire: Dyberry Bob
Sire: Lippitt Billy Ash (Ashbrook (Croydon Prince x Nancy) x Lippitt Sallie
(Billie Hoffman x Mary Allen)
Dam: Lippitt Miss Nekomia (Lippitt Moro (Moro x Croydon Mary) x Ne Komia
(Ashbrook x Brigit))
Dam: Marigold
Sire: Goldfield (Mansfield (see above) x Juno (Forester x
Gertrude)
Dam: Ingrid (Mansfield (see above) x Urnice (Bennington (see above) x
Carolyn))
And this doesn't even show all the additional
crosses back into General Gates that
are actually there.
If a horse descends from the government horses
through General Gates, then it
has Thoroughbred in it (Gen'l Gates' dam was 1/2
TB). If it descends through
Bennington, then it has saddlebred in it (Mrs.
Culvers). The government farm
management was
trying to get more size, and so crossed in TB and ASB
at intervals (e.g., Delmont, and the experiment
that led to Upwey King Benn).
Some Morgan people are purists and go into fits of
apoplexy
at the very idea of "impure blood". Me, I've
decided I don't believe in
closed stud books. 'Sides, Justin Morgan's
sire was supposed to have
been a Thoroughbred, and in the 19th century
Morgans and Saddlebreds
were considered just two variations on the same
general type of horse
and were bred back and forth all the time to
produce the modern ASB.
As late as 1935, the president of the Saddlebred
Breeder's Association's
favorite horse was a mare whose dam was a
Morgan.
Sonny's top is pure Brunk.
