I have some mountain climbing rope and some caving rope. There's a little
"give" to the mountain climbing rope but it's much easier to pull through
the loop and tighten; more flexible. The caving rope does *not* give but
is very stiff and hard to pull. When using the caving rope I prefer to
tie one end to the trailer and pull forward. The mountain climbing rope
is my favorite though. I'm amazed at people who put up a line and never
check it or tighten it. I've seen horses walking back and forth under a
saggy rope that's lower than their backs. Then when those horses get
tangled everybody's like, "See, dangerous!"
P.S. My rope was given to me because it was"out of date" for it's
original purpose. It's still great rope.
