[RC] EPM Recoveree finishes 50-miler - Floyd & Margaret Reid
By this report I wish to encourage owners of horses afflicted with EPM:
Hadima, my 9 year old, 16 hh, Egyptian mare, finished the Coso Jam II (CA),
on Sunday. Her course ride time was 7:07 (plus 20 minutes off-course when
we missed ribbons).
Hadima had been in training for her first endurance ride on Jan 19,
2002, at Fire Mtn (CA). She was limping on her Jan 2 ride, Dr. Dave Doonan,
DVM, expertly diagnosed EPM. We medicated her with Bayer's Marquis, a 28-day
program followed by a 5-month lay-off.
Seven months earlier we had moved, with Hadima from Oklahoma, where she
must have been exposed. Floyd
