I may be out in left field here, but I think the major concern is not to
finger point at the riders in question, but did the appearence do damage to
our sport. Apparently, Canadians won't get to see this particular piece of
footage.
Again, going back to my fire department experience, it takes a lot of work
and luck to get good press and only a camera to get bad press. If someone
is going to have a publisized event, you have to have a PR person with the
crews to manage the coverage. This may sound crazy, but it is worth it.
You need to educate the people covering the event. (as much as you can
educate the press.)
If anyone has any doubt about my comments, watch CNN for a little while. The
truth is not always what you see, but what you see is believed to be the
truth.
