[RC] Sidedness (was Canter vs Extended Trot) - Deanna German
How many of you out there either in-line skate or ice skate? How many of you
who do either of the above have tried or can properly execute a cross-over
turn?
It's easier for a right-handed person to do a counter-clockwise cross-over
turn -- that is, to the left. When I first started doing them to the right,
I was unbalanced, tentative and got my feet tangled more than once. I'm
right-handed. I still have to work the clock-wise turn more than the other
to retain my ability.
I suspect that this is much the same for horses.

Actually most horses are dominantly left footed or should I say hooved? This
is why ridden?horses race to the left on tracks. I don't know? if the
buggy/shurry horses race to the left also.. anyone?
The majority of the horses I have worked with preferred the left also. Has
anyone else noticed anything similar?
