What's even another concern, the IAHA 100 mile
endurance championship is being held on October 11 in Henryville,
IN.
I think this will have an effect that our National
Championships will look more like regional championships, although I will assume
that the AERC National Championships will have more draw.
I just found that out today at my IAHA chapter
(Arabian Trail Riders Association) meeting. Our delegate will try to have
the IAHA Championship venue to be changed to the Red Rock date and
venue.
You had me in a panic for a minute - I thought that
you meant that Pan Ams was going to be that date also!
I think whether or not it affects your ride
population, it depends on how the local population feels about these
events. Out here in the West, we would lose a few riders to these big
events, but the majority of the riders ride for fun and will only go to local
rides. But if the Championship is a "local event" it will have a major
impact. I certainly will have no interest in going to Indiana for the IAHA
championship, but will consider going to Red Rock the the AERC championship
since it's within a day's drive.
However, if a ride is being held within an hour
from my home the same day, I would be hard pressed to make a decision about
which ride to go to. I just don't have a real strong burning desire to go
the the National Championships with the current set of criteria - but that's
another topic that I'm tired of discussing.
