[RC] Coughing & Training - Kari Hanes
We have some kind of "cold" going through our herd. It started about a
week after the White River ride with my daughters horse, within a few
weeks my mare started coughing as well. I dont know if they picked
something up at the ride or not (they are pastured separately). Since
then it has slowly been spreading to the others. My daughters horse has
gotten over it, haven't heard him cough for about a week now, my mare is
slowing but I heard her cough once a few days ago. It doesnt seem
severe, no temp, a slight milky discharge from the nose the first few
days then goes away but the cough lingers. My hubby says NO TRAINING, my
horse says come ride me!!! How long should I give her off? Will slow
walking rides drive the cold into the lungs and cause something more
severe? We are giving an antihistimine from the vet and it seems to
relieve the cough some but it's still there. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Kari
