[RC] very young riders and AERC - Laura Hayes
I am of the thought that we are all responsible for ourselves and our
actions, and that includes us, our children and our dogs. I do not think
that every little common sense issue should be legislated.
THAT said, I tend to think this is an issue of liability, not morality. I
would not be opposed to the AERC seeking legal council on the issue. Would
we be more likely to be considered liable if we set a minimum age? I don't
know, but as a member, I think it is important to find out.
I did like Jinnifer Plummer's idea of having a child 'qualify' through set
requirements before they are entered in longer rides. BTW, Jinnifer, didn't
I sponsor you in your first 100??? I have a picture of us at the ride that
was near Clearfield PA - I am thinking it was your first 100.
Also one more unrelated point for the masses- If you haven't been there,
don't speak as if you have. Experience lends credibility to your words, and
jumping right in, berating and telling a whole lot of people who HAVE been
there, HOW to be there, is very presumptuous. If you think I am speaking
about YOU, maybe I am. Food for thought.
