A great many of us felt at the time that there was
another financial side to the issue, and time has not changed the
logic. Compare it to having the government take more out of your paycheck
to balance the budget versus allowing private money to stimulate the economy to
make a larger tax base to balance the budget. But as I said, it has
become a part of the status quo, even if many of us still disagree both about
the need and the principle.

Subject: RE: [RC] Fwd: Day Member
Fee
If
you would all go back in time to the proper place you would find a report from
the AERC Office Committee outlining the costs to the AERC for non-member
services and at that time, in the dim dark past, $10 was barely able to cover
the expenses the office incurred. The AERC Treasurer at the time Jerri Scott
made some very good points for the non-member fee and why it was necessary.
Obviously now, the costs are higher but the fee has stayed the
same.
