Re: [RC] The USA-E notice and AERC members - John Teeter

There was also mention in the USAe piece from Lori about a way to coordinate with USAe and get all of the registered horses an ID number en-mass w/o anyone incurring any fees.

It was referenced as being done with one of the other disciplines (which one evades me right now:-(

is there any chance to do the automatic Horse ID thing with our AERC horse registrations and thus not have anyone be hit with the "i didn't know and now I have to pay $'s to get a USAe ID number.." syndrome?

Recently USA-E members received a notice about getting USA-E
numbers for their horses. Lori and Rick Stewart had posted it
on Ridecamp as well. Part of it is at the end of this post.

The application to AERC members appears to be that if you are in
an FEI event or plan to be in one - you need to get a number from
USA-E. This would mean that you enter the FEI section of
    an AERC ride.

For the rest of the AERC members who are also members of USA-E -
there's no need to have a USA-E number for your horse in addition
to the AERC number you already have.

The complete response from USA-E is at the end of this post.

    Dear Mike,

I am the new USA Equestrian Endurance liaison and Lori passed this question
on to me for an answer. The horse ID number's main use is to track results
and breeding for all horses competing in the US. I know AERC already
provides this for Endurance horses, but USA Equestrian's goal is to have a
large database for all horses competing at any recognized events. That way
down the line, for example, if an Arabian breeder of show horses wanted to
see if his or her horse's bloodlines were also doing well in endurance
    events it would be possible.

All horses competing in FEI/USA Equestrian recognized Endurance rides will
need to have the Horse ID number. If the horse is already annually or life
recorded the owner will not need to apply for this number. The application
asks for the horse's affiliate ID number and the system will be able to
cross reference the horse's AERC number. This can all be done online by
clicking on the appropriate icon on the right hand side of the screen.
Please call me if you have any further questions.
