Ridecamp: Re: [RC] Venting

I used to think endurance was expensive.  Then I started team penning.
Whoa, baby!!  Problem is that it's as addictive as endurance only it's more
like gambling!  :)  I've mostly found a family oriented atmosphere in the
Michigan Team Penning Association and was brought along by some friends who
helped me get started much like I got started in endurance.  However, as a
novice I could ride BOTH novice and open...let's see... with a 5 ride limit
at $10 for novice and $15 for open that amounted to $125 per event.  And
that's just if only I rode...if Nelson ALSO wanted to ride?  Oh, boy!  ONE
time I think Nelson and I made back our money because we were both on the
same team and made double instead of single for our placing.  When you
consider that out of those ten rides, the MOST ride I could get at 90
seconds per run amounts to about 15 minutes total ride time IF you take the
whole time and hopefully, you're a little bit faster than that!!  :)  Well,
Jenny and I can BOTH ride a 50 miler for that kind of money and Nelson
could, too if he didn't feel like crewing!!  And we camp for 3 days and two
nights.  :)  I still like to team pen but nowadays I go do 2 or 3 runs in
Novice and leave it at that.  :)  Endurance riding IS a bargain.
