My new gray horse that I won at Alpine is doing
well. Thanks so much to all the kind hearted people that wrote emails to me.
Endurance News wants to publish the story and I will be sending them a
photo to add to it. It just confirms how nice the endurance community
is.
Most people said to name him "Alpine." After
saying the name out loud several times, it just did not work for me. Besides, I
would end up calling him Al and he doesn't look like an Al. But I do want Alpine
to be part of his name. I really liked a name my friend sent me "Sterling"
which is strong and a nice gray name. I also like Silver Lining alot. These
horses are like our kids and you have to have a name you feel comfortable saying
ALOT and yelling (when you call them up from the pasture).
He is doing great in the herd of 8 horses that I
pasture board him at. He has 2 yearlings to play with and he is hanging tightly
with my horse Omar. He got trimmed yesterday and got his first lunging lesson.
We need to work on his trailer loading skills and his feet picking up skills.
I'll keep everyone posted if anyone is interested.
My husband just got laid off yesterday (would you
believe) so another horse is not what I need right now especially before winter.
But we talked about it and he is just about the only good thing that has
happened to us this year (we are having a REALLY bad year all around) and I am
optimistic that things will get better. I cannot sell the only good thing that
we got this year. That just wouldn't be right.
