I use Advil (and other non-steroidal
antiinflamitories) under Dr's orders and for good medical reasons.  I have
an artheritic knee, and a couple of bad back disks.  These artheritic
changes trace back to 1980.

Drugs are the best way to keep pain away and my
flexability up.  I also learned from my Dr. that when one arthretic changes
one has to take the antiinflammatories for a few days before a ride to allow the
levels to build up to prevent inflammation and the resultant pain.

Trust me I would do my horse much more harm by
being in pain half way through a ride.  The next day I would really be in
pain.

The point is that when we get older, things
hurt.  sometimes drugs are the best solution.

I also take antihistimines when allergies heat
up.  I could skip them if rules said no, but on the 2 or 3 times a year
something gets to me it sure is nice to be able to breathe.  The only other
solution is allergy shots that are more expensive, and not as effictive for me.
Yes, I have worked with an allergist about this.
