Re: [RC] [Guest] Sheikh Mohammed - Truman Prevatt
If I'm not mistaken the great TB Affirmed was ridden to a Triple Crown by
a 17 year old boy. As endurance matures on the international level, it will
probably evolve into a "young person's (man and woman) game." We old fogies
may not like to admit it but with youth comes faster reflexes, better agility,
better balance, more quickness, more strength, more speed, etc. As the envelope
is pushed and the horses get better "jockeys" are going to get better and
most likely younger.
That was a pretty awesome time for that course which I under stand was slick,
unpredictable and unforgiving. Could the reflexes, agility and balance of
a 16 year old boy have been the difference between victory and a pull?
Whatever the case my hat goes off to him, he rode one hell of a ride.
Truman (who at my age has decided to go head to head with John Teeter for
the coveted turtle award :-) )

I have read just a bit of the posts on the WEG. I understand some of the
resentment of the Maktoum family. I recognize that many riders/trainers
in
endurance have benfited greatly from him as well...as has been mentioned.
My first thought when the winner of the WEG was announced had nothing to
do with his heritage, but WOW, a 16 year old!! I'm impressed and I bet his
father was too.
