[RC] [Guest] WEC Finish - John A. Teeter

Yup, this win came really easily for Sheik Mohammed bin Raschid Al Maktoum.
I don't know much but I think he's spent about six years, millions of
dollars, bought and/or leased hundreds of horses, probably looked at
hundreds more, hired dozens of trainers, paid for lots and lots of people to
ride and care for the creatures, written checks some really big vet, feed
and tack bills, orchestrated the whole operation and had his own butt and
the butts of his teenage children in the saddle for quite a number miles.
Like I said, I don't know much. I only have 100 endurance miles behind me
myself. What I see in this victory is that there is no easy way to win any
100 mile ride, least of all the World Championship. Adding to the
diffculty, is when that championship goes off in what sounds like hellish
weather.
I congratulate Sheik Mohammed. He must have been very proud the moment his
son (the name is right to be his son) crossed the finish line. Were a member
of my family standing under that banner, I'd shed tears. Maybe the Sheik
hasn't endured in this sport the way most of have, will or hope to but in my
opinion this man has shown real persistance.
To those who are angry about it, hey the sport isn't what it was 10 years
ago. But 10 years ago it wasn't what it was 20 years ago either. Times
change.
Mabrouk Sheik Mohammed and keep going all you USA and Canada riders still
in, we're proud of you too.
Cecily
(In comment to "easier to win when someone else has taken said top quality
horse and laready put the work into the horse and PROVEN that said horse is
worth the final development. )
