Re: [RC] Charles - volunteering - Maggie & David
Charles,
First of all, you are a volunteer. You can say 'no' if they give you a chore
that leaves you stranded.
Secondly, as a ride manager, I don't give the 'good jobs' to my friends. I
give them to whoever is standing next to me when a job opening occurs.
Sometimes that means that since my friends are sitting at my camper because
they don't know anyone, they get those jobs. I have never intentionally
slighted a volunteer. I try to assign someone to feed the helpers, but
sometimes there just isn't anyone and the help has to fend for themselves.
Most helpers at my ride have learned which coolers the food and drinks are
in and just dig in. Sometimes they feed me because I got busy and didn't eat
(again). And yes, I know I'm not very organized. I try, but I don't see it
happening anytime soon.
Go to the ride, Charles, and have fun. And getting stuck in booneyland is
not so bad. If everything is caught up, that is my favorite assignment. You
get to see everyone, but you get some quiet time, too.
