Goldfish are very hardy, and can tolerate bigger temperature changes and
poorer water quality than most other fish that you would buy at a pet store.
They can come to the surface and gulp air, so the water can be really dirty,
and they will just keep eating gunk from the tank. They can survive low
temperatures, as long as the water is not frozen solid, in part because cold
water carries more oxygen than warm water. Plecostomus are tropical fish,
and will not do well with wide temperature and water quality variations. I
think algae is a problem because it LOOKS gunky, not because of any actual
harm to the horses. You can fish it out with a net if it gets too thick. I
also would not use snails due to the nasty diseases they can carry.

And by the way, Steph is in Spain or at least headed that way, and John may
be with her. So would people please start ACTING like she was here and might
stop some of this stuff that people are getting carried away with instead of
acting like children? Right now I can't even ride, because of a pinched
nerve in my lower back. Treasure what you've got and share the best. jeri
