[RC] EZ boot question - Peggy Bergman-Smith
I have a mare I'm getting in shape and I have EZ boots on her fronts. At
first, everything was great - we trotted, cantered, went out for 3-4 hours,
no problems. Then she started hitting the back of the boot while we were
trotting. Yesterday, we were trotting along and she stepped on the back on
the boot and off it flew. Thank goodness it went off to the front and I saw
it. I'm going to tighten the heel strap and see if that helps, but that
won't prevent her from overreaching and stepping on the back.
Has anyone ever used bell boots over the EZ boots to keep their horses from
stepping on the backs of the boots? I am trying to get her front feet back
to normal after a few years of bad shoeing so don't want to put shoes back
on her right away, and she's still a little "ouchy."
Any suggestions from experienced EZ boot users would be greatly appreciated!
