Re: [RC] sheath cleaning vs. bag cleaning - Charles

I have both a gelding and a mare. Cleaning a bag is tons easier than
cleaning a sheath, not to mention it is a lot easier on the "masculine" side
    of me.

My problem was that she would cowkick anyone who came near her bag. I gave
her a treat every time my hand was near the bag and she held still. It's
worked, I can get in her bag now. She will still give an occasional cow
kick, but I've figured out that they aren't effective if I'm reaching in
with my back towards her side (so use your left hand when on the left side
of the horse). She can kick, but my arm is in the fold between body and leg
and the rest of me is out of her way, and it isn't a problem.

    Charles
PS: I've seen some behavior that makes me wonder if it isn't a sexual thing.
I just know that since I started cleaning regularly, both my gelding and
mare are real happy to see me.
