If your foot slips through the stirrup and you are being dragged, you MUST
roll away from the horse, onto your stomach and kick
your feet like you are swimming. Your foot will come out
immediately. Rolling onto your stomach protects
more of your vital organs. This has been documented in countless films
from Rodeos, where getting a foot hung up happens often. The riders who,
sometimes accidentally, rolled away from the horse on their stomachs and kicked
their feet always came loose. The ones who tried to grab the stirrup and
haul themselves back up got their faces and bodies badly
smashed. So, how do you remember this bit of info when you are
being dragged??? Well, I doubt if you'll be thinking about what's for
dinner.... Renie
