After I put about 400 miles on a set of mine I did not consider
them to be in good enough condition to risk using them in
competition; however, I continued to use them for training.

They now have about 600 miles on them; I still don't consider
them to be in good enough condition to risk using on a ride, but
they have not failed yet, and will continue to use them for
    training until they do.

The type of terrain they have been used on is mostly hard pack
clay, desert rock/sand, and DG. Surfaces that have eaten through
Equithotics, Marathon shoes (and other plastics) in 100 miles
or less. So, my experience is that they wear pretty well.

p.s. After experimenting with them both at home and in
competition, I have decided not to use them for competition
mostly because of problems with chafing and with having to pick pebbles out of them when after travelling for extended periods
    of time through sandy washes.

This does not keep me from doing many miles of training in them.
Nor does it keep me from recommending them strongly to people who
want to ride lots of miles on the trail, but don't necessarily
want to ride competitively in varied terrain.
