We're in an area of  very high rabies incidence.   All the horses at the 
ranch get vaccinated and, to my knowledge, none have ever had any reaction of 
significance.  Many of them are a little subdued and achey the day after 
spring shots are given, but then, so is almost every child who has their 
immunizations.  And, come to think of it, I don't feel so hot after a tetanus 
update or the flu vaccine either, but the feeling is short term and, for me, 
better than the alternative.
