Re: [RC] rabies reaction - Celeste Comfort
I had the same thing happen to my mare with spring
shoots. When we did fall shoots she seemed not quite
herself the next day. I thought that maybe it was to
much it one day, so I decided to split the shoots up
this spring to see which one was causing her to react.
Did Flue Rhino, and nasal strangles, waited two weeks
then did rabies. After her rabies shoot the next day
she look like she had the flue. She couldn't even
lift her head up. She was walking like she was stiff
all over. Called the vet out, and she was treated
with something I can't remember, but she felt much
better the next day. She also had a large swelling
where she had gotten her shot. Her reaction to the
rabies shot was much worst the second time. I'm not
sure I want to risk a third. Now I thought my vet
only uses Beyer for shots, but I'm going to have to
ask if it was Fort Dodge. I hope I don't have the
same thing happen when I do the WNV shots. Now her
history was that her shots were never really kept up
to date until I bought her, so that might have
something to do with it, but I'm very worried about
giving her another rabies shot.
