  A good friend, many years ago, had a horse that got rabies,
had to be put down... not a pretty sight.  I ALWAYS vaccinate against rabies (I see fox in the horse pasture almost evry time
I go to the farm).  Talk to your vet about the vaccine used and the likelihood of bad side effects.  I've never had one.
