"Repel-x" makes a roll-on flyspray which is packaged just like
a tube of roll-on deodorant.  It is oily and viscous and stays
on for a day or so.  We apply it:  the ears, entire neck at
the crest, dot on forehead, dot on nose, knees, hocks, stripe
from the cantle to the end of the dock, and then 2 stripes from
the topline down diagonally toward the point of the hocks on
both sides.  The flies buzz around but they don't land; even
the bombers.  Every spray that I've bought or made, sweated
away after a few hours.  This stuff stays, and is small enough
to pack with you on the trail, if you need more.  Costs about
$7.00; I go through 2 tubes per season.
