[RC] leg care for multi-days - DreamWeaver
How do people care for their horses legs after riding - most
specifically in the case of multi-days, but in general after a
competition?
Marlene: When you are at the ride, walk around and look at what the other
people are doing. Specifically, check out the ones that are in the Pioneer
Standings and see what they are doing. You'll learn more from that than
from here. I can't think of anybody that regularly completes multiday rides
that posts on RC very often with advice. I don't count because that one
ride where I went back to the start on and didn't get listed in the results
caused everything I have accomplished to be null and void. :>P Don't be shy
about talking to people -- you know how it is, we get so busy doing all of
our things each night we don't always get out to meet new people, and it's
nice to get a break sometimes to talk to somebody. :-)
I would recommend using ice boots. I have never wrapped either horses legs
during or after a multiday or any other endurance ride. I like to see what
is going on.
In the end, do what is best for you and your horse -- and not because
somebody else does it. You may decide to wrap because that is what is best
for your horse. Or not. I just never have, and really like using ice boots
instead. Good luck at OT!
