I was not in any way suggesting changing the 6 hr
time for 25 miles. Just granting LDs the same post ride
recovery time as the 50s.
If we are to continue classing the LDs as
training/conditioning rides, we need to keep the framework to accustom
riders to what's needed to move up to 50s if that is a riders
goal. Meeting criteria in the same way as longer
distances, learning to meet the speed required to do 50s.
(Meeting criteria at 25 miles just as the 50s must do at that
point was one of the ideas the got the "pulse down to finish" into the
system.)
Many rides in our area do give placings and
BCs. Because LDs often do not draw large numbers (they are becoming more
popular here) BCs often judge only top 5. Since AERC is recognizing
LD BCs it will become top 10 I'm sure.
Our regional organization Pacific Northwest
Endurance Rides counts points from placings in LDs toward year end
awards.
LD rides, LD riders, and AERC members who find LD
fits their needs are very important to our future.
Lets be sure they are considered in the
rules.
