[RC] Canadian Horses - amber applegate
I just was informed on one of the lists that in Alberta, Canada they have
suffered a terrible drought for the past two years and also grasshoppers
destroying their hay crops.
For this reason, I am told, breeders of all horses are selling off their
stock at rock bottom prices in many cases to avoid having to take the horses
to slaughter. What hay is available is very expensive.
The breeders that I just purchased my horse from in Alberta didn't go into
any detail but did tell me that they lost their entire crop of hay this
year. And I do know that they are having a pretty big herd dispersal.
If all this is true, and I suspect this person is telling the truth, as she
lives up there, I would suggest to anyone looking for a horse of any breed
to check into the Canadian Breeders. You could help our neighbors to the
North, save a horse, and end up purchasing a very good mount for yourself.
I sure wish I had the money to purchase a dozen more even half as nice as
the one I bought, I would bring them down here and resell.
Linda Hedgpeth from Susanville, are you on this list? Would you please email
me again, I deleted your post by mistake and would like to tell you of some
of the breeders up in Canada that I could suggest to you, also some in this
area too.
